WayCAM welcomes new staff member

Along with the new year and new studio comes a new staff member.  This past week WayCAM has hired it’s most recent employee, Nick Cosky.  Aside from becoming the part time Production Assistant for WayCAM, he is also employed part time as the Production Coordinator for SudburyTV.  Nick’s other public access TV experience includes his former role as Facilities Director for Wellesley Media Corporation and volunteer intern at his hometown station in Shrewsbury.

Nick takes over the Production Assistant responsibilities from Corey Saunders who will be continuing his career in television production as a Producer for an ABC affiliate station in Rhode Island.  We would like to thank Corey for all his hard work and dedication as a member of the WayCAM staff and wish him the best of luck in the future!

And The Winner Is…

January 20th was the presentation date to the winner of the 32” Panasonic LCD TV that was awarded by the Wayland Business Association (WBA) in support of WayCAM’s “Get to Know WayCAM” promotion. The TV give-away was the grand prize from the survey WayCAM conducted at Special Town Meeting, and that ran until the end of November. Town meeting attendees and many other town residents were invited to complete a survey about WayCAM’s performance and ways that WayCAM could improve its services to the Wayland community. Over 375 people participated, and the lucky winner of the TV was Ann Knight, who many of you know is Director of the Wayland Free Public Library. Ann’s name was randomly drawn at the WBA’s annual Holiday Party in December. Ann is pictured here with Ken Isaacson, president of WayCAM (left), and Michael Abend, president of the Wayland Business Association. The presentation was made at WayCAM’s new studios, which are located, as of December 24th, on the new Wayland High School site, adjacent to the Field House. With the new site, WayCAM is much more than a TV station. WayCAM is transforming into a state-of-the-art Community Media Center, a resource for the whole town. A variety of courses in TV, video and studio production will be provided to the adult community, in addition to the classes presently provided by WayCAM to more than 100 Wayland students each year. WayCAM will be holding a community-wide Open House in Spring 2012, to introduce its new facilities and course offerings. Interested residents of all ages and backgrounds should contact Jim Mullane, Executive Director, at (508) 358-5006, email: jim@waycam.tv .

Verizon Ch. 38 Audio is restored

For the past two weeks, there has been no audio on Verizon, Channel 38 for some subscribers. This is the channel for Town Government programs. The problem was hard to track down because only some subscribers had it. Verizon Tech Support had been contacted but the solution was elusive. Audio service has now been restored on Jan. 11th. Minor repair to  Channel 39 (Public Service Announcements) was also made at that time.

We continue to monitor for technical issues. Please contact us (info@waycam.tv) if you have any questions about programming.

Thank you.

Programming Update

As of Jan. 11, 2012, we are still not able to broadcast live programs. However, all usual Government meetings and programs are being recorded and are being broadcast on:
Comcast Channel 8 & 9
Verizon Channel 37 & 38

See our Weekly TV Schedule listing on this Website.

All broadcast programming is also available “On-Demand” 3-5 business days after date of actual program.

Thank you for your patience while we finalize our technical connections.

WayCAM adds new Comcast channel to its line-up

WayCAM moves into new facility— Technical problems possible

The time has finally come. WayCAM, Wayland’s Community Media Center, has moved into a newly built studio!

While the new building and equipment are very exciting for everyone involved with WayCAM, channels 8, 9, 99 on Comcast, and 37, 38, 39 on Verizon are still experiencing occasional technical difficulties.

Keep up to date with the move or any programming changes at WayCAM.tv or Facebook.com/WayCAM.
